You’ll find everything from high end dresses to affordable jewelry and gifts. Owner Lizzie Farnsworth is happy to help shoppers find that perfect something for that perfect someone. If you have a picky man on your list, try the Adventure Outpost by Howl on First St. They carry brands that align with their values of sustainability, quality and design. A great pace for that hard-to-shop-for dad, brother or husband! 

If you’re looking for a well made gift that represents Colorado or Salida, you’ll find one of a kind, high quality designs at Drift and Amble on F Street. Designer and shop owner Farrah Fine’s unique sense of style blends into all her creations, from custom t-shirts to sweatshirts to hats…you name it. Salida Mountain Sports is right on F Street. This is the spot where locals get their outdoor gear. They stock warm, functional clothes perfect for winter. They also have hard goods like skis and ski boots, plus all the other extras you need for a day on the slopes or hiking in the snow. Their selection of hats is so extensive, you might spend all day trying them on. 

If you have a runner on your list, 7,000 Feet Running Company handpicks a fantastic selection of shoes for the Colorado high country. They also stock clothes and goods any runner would love to have. Fun fact: you can even recycle your old shoes in the store! The knowledgeable and lovely staff is always happy to help. 

If you, or anyone you know, loves riding bikes, a stop at Oveja Negra is a must. Their incredibly well constructed bike bags and gear are all handmade here in Salida. These items are fun, functional and original. It doesn’t matter if you ride a cruiser down the street or bike pack on multi-day adventures, there is something for anyone on two wheels. And with a full line of functional and fabulous packs, it honestly doesn’t matter if you haven’t ridden a bike since you were a kid–these bomber bags work for everyone on your list. 

If you’re in Buena Vista, check out Colorado Kayak Supply (CKS). They are one of the state’s best known retailers for river related gear. They sell life jackets, wetsuits and anything else you’d need for a day on the water. They also have incredibly cute clothes and accessories for both men and women.

Don’t we all have a kid or two we’d like to surprise for the holidays? Salida’s staple toy store, Kaleidoscope Toys, gives shoppers a great selection of fun and educational toys for kids of all ages. You’ll find everything from stuffed animals and legos to an entire section dedicated to fun science kits and experiments. Their game shelf is bursting with  ways to connect with the young people in your life, and they even have a section with classic “prank gifts” like whoopie cushions and fake dog doo.

This beautifully curated store is not only a great place to find the right read for the special children on your list, it’s awesome for adults, too. Did you know Salida boasts the largest historic district in the state? Makes sense that it’s chock full of fun vintage finds. Vintage clothing lovers will fall in love with Ruby Blues. Located right on the corner of F St. and First St., this beautiful store is literally in the heart of downtown. Inside you’ll find a vast selection of vintage, retro and high quality consignment items. Perfect spot to lose yourself in the beauty of fashion from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and beyond. It’s a must see for any vintage clothing connoisseur. 

If you appreciate antique finds, set aside some serious time for True–Vintage Finds and Home Goods. This multi-vendor space is filled with everything from jewelry to clothing to home goods to gifts. With so many retailers in one space, there’s A LOT to choose from. Even if you don’t find something to buy, you’ll love taking a look at these fun vintage items. 

Finding the Right Jewelry and Gifts in Downtown Salida 

One of the true gems of Downtown Salida is the aptly named Eye Candy. This fun, colorful shop sells unique jewelry and artwork with an incredibly friendly owner and staff. While they sell much more than just jewelry, their selection of earrings, necklaces and other wearable art is extensive. If you have a jewelry lover on your list, Eye Candy is sure to yield the goods. 

Howl Mercantile’s modern bohemian vibe is perfect for all the mindful souls on your list. Their smattering of goods hit home on so many fronts–music, decor, journals, candles, etc. This space is full of beautiful things and even serves coffee to keep you perked up for more shopping. 

Looking for a truly local experience? Try Krivanek Jewelers. They’ve been in business since 1999 and create beautiful custom pieces. This isn’t costume jewelry. These pieces are stunning and created by Mark Krivanek, a geologist and award winning jewelery designer. It’s worth a browse, particularly if you’re looking for a gift that will truly blow that special someone away. 

Art Galleries in Colorado’s Original Creative District 

In 2012 Salida’s collection of art galleries earned it the first “Certified Creative District” designation in the state.
