If you’re unfamiliar with Colorado mountain weather, keep in mind that it can be fickle at all times throughout the year. During the summer, afternoon thunderstorms are common. If your wedding is scheduled for the spring or the fall, weather can vary widely during these times. It may be snowing one day and very warm the next. If you’re planning a winter wedding, you could see a few flakes or snow or a full-blown blizzard. Make sure to plan ahead with weather in mind so that you’re ready for all possible scenarios.
Suggested Wedding Venues
This beautiful and historic ranch offers a serene and picturesque setting for your special day. You’ll have your choice of various sites on the property as well as a recently finished Events Barn. Hutchinson Ranch is located just two miles west of Salida off Rainbow Boulevard.

Getting Your Marriage License
If you’re getting married in Salida but you’re traveling from out of state, you’ll obviously need to get your marriage license before the ceremony. (If you’re a Colorado citizen, you can get your marriage license at your local Clerk and Recorder’s office, too.) In Salida, you’ll find the Clerk’s office at the Chaffee County Courthouse, located at 104 Crestone Avenue. When you apply, you’ll need to fill out some paperwork, show your IDs, and pay the license fee. The license is good for 35 days, but it is only valid within the state. They’ll happily work with you to create the perfect menu for your event and can provide vegetarian options as well.
At Kalamatapit Catering, their chefs will create a unique and personalized menu for your wedding using local and organic foods. If you or your guests have any special menu needs, including vegan, gluten-free, or vegetarian items, they will ensure that those needs are fulfilled. RustingRam Catering specializes in Mediterranean and Southwestern cuisines, but their menus can include a wide variety dishes from other regions as well. Your specialized wedding menu will be designed according to your preferences as well as any dietary restrictions.
